DTF Artwork Preparation
Your file needs to be right before it hits the RIP. Wrong alpha channel, incorrect ICC profile, or unclean transparency — and every single print shows it. We prepare artwork specifically for DTF output: clean edge masking, correct colour profiles, and a white layer that prints exactly where it should.
Why DTF files fail at the press
Most DTF print failures trace back to three issues: a dirty alpha channel causing white haze, a missing or incorrect ICC profile causing colour cast, and a white layer that isn't defined properly for the RIP. These are not design problems — they're prepress problems. We fix them.
Turnaround
Most DTF artwork preparation jobs are delivered within 2–4 hours of payment confirmation. We work with screen printers and DTF shops across Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, and internationally.
What Goes Wrong with DTF Files
These are the most common reasons DTF prints come out wrong — and the exact issues we resolve before the file reaches your RIP.
White haze around the design
Semi-transparent pixels on the artwork edge let white ink bleed through, creating a milky fringe on every print. This is almost always an alpha channel problem.
Alpha channel errors
Rough, jagged, or embedded-background masks that the RIP reads incorrectly — producing unpredictable white layer shapes and hard edges.
ICC profile mismatch
Without the correct output profile, the RIP converts colours blindly. The result: a colour cast — typically a yellow or green shift across the entire print.
Colour cast on finished print
Oversaturation or hue shift caused by incorrect colour space conversion from the source file to your DTF output profile.
White layer not defined
The white ink channel on DTF must cover only the design area. Missing or incorrect white layer definitions cause transparent patches or ink outside the design.
Low resolution at print size
Web-quality JPGs and files created for digital use look soft at print dimensions. DTF requires 150–300 DPI at actual print size for clean edges and sharp detail.
What You Receive
Every file is checked before delivery. We don't release an artwork that we haven't verified renders correctly for DTF output. If there's a problem after delivery, we fix it.
- PNG or PSD with clean, properly anti-aliased alpha channel
- White ink layer defined correctly for your printer's RIP
- ICC profile embedded — matched to your specific DTF setup
- Correct colour space (RGB, DTF-specific output profile)
- Edge cleanup — no halo, haze, or transparent fringe
- Correct resolution at your specified print dimensions
- Pre-press verification before delivery

Common Questions
What causes white haze on DTF prints?
White haze is caused by semi-transparent pixels on the edges of the artwork. DTF printers apply a white ink layer wherever the alpha channel is not fully transparent — so any partial transparency creates a visible white fringe. Cleaning the alpha channel by thresholding and feathering correctly eliminates this.
Do you work with all DTF printer brands?
Yes. We apply ICC profiles for the specific printer you use — including Epson-based DTF systems, direct-to-film RIP software setups, and custom DTF configurations. Provide your printer model and RIP software when you submit the file.
What file format should I send you?
Send us whatever you have — JPG, PNG, PSD, AI, PDF, or even a photo of the original design. We work from the best available source file and rebuild the artwork for DTF output.
What format will I receive?
We deliver in the format your RIP requires — typically a PNG with embedded alpha channel, or a layered PSD with a separate white layer. Tell us your RIP and we'll deliver exactly what it needs.
How long does DTF artwork preparation take?
Most DTF artwork preparation jobs are completed within 2–4 hours of payment confirmation. Complex files with multiple colour cast issues or significant rebuild work may take longer — we'll advise at the quote stage.
